Welcome to the Depot!
This beautifully restored 1902 Northern Pacific railway station, situated in sight of four mountain ranges at the heart of Livingston, was the headquarters of the NP's Central Division and America's first access to Yellowstone Park. A grand sight to see for railroad passengers, the architecture retains the original masonry with delicate decorative finials, flowers, and animal heads placed along the colonnades and exterior walls. With the original paint color, NP tile and terrazzo, the Northern Pacific yin-yang monad figure is beautifully inset with mosaic tile atop the tall windows inside. Passing trains still wave at this downtown landmark. Please ask our staff to share more about the history if you are interested! The main room was the primary part of the rail station during passenger service days. It's now home to our museum collection during the summer (typically late May to September) and the location for memorable gatherings during the museum off-season. Small events can be hosted while the museum exhibits are up, but events during the summer are best hosted in the courtyard and under the colonnades. We are ready to answer your questions and help plan the event of your dreams. |
